The bevelled outside provides superior grip when cornering and especially when hanging off, which translates into more safety at high lean angles. The upper side of the detent has a wider curve than standard detents, giving the soles more contact surface and therefore also the best possible grip. Thanks to a toothed connection to the detent joint, the top of the detent can be precisely aligned and fixed in 15° increments.
